about

Angry and terse, this short piece for Clarinet and Piano was written for Ian Duguid, a fellow student composer at Coventry University in 2002 and is now released twenty years later.

The long, loud clarinet line vies with the equally thundering piano for supremacy; sometimes the clarinet gains the ascendency, sometimes the piano does, but always they are working rather half-heartedly together. By the end they appear to have come to some sort of reconciliation, but it's an uneasy truce at best.
